Sense Square S.r.l. is an innovative SME and academic spin-off specialising in environmental monitoring, Environmental Intelligence and decision support. The company develops IoT sensor networks and cloud platforms to acquire and analyse real-time data on air quality, gases, particulate matter and environmental parameters. The platform integrates a Decision Engine based on rules, statistical models and AI algorithms, capable of converting analytical results into operational recommendations. The system can, for example, suggest actions for traffic management, reducing population exposure, activating treatment plants, maintaining infrastructure or optimising industrial and agricultural processes. Artificial intelligence is at the heart of the solutions developed: in particular, machine learning algorithms improve sensor calibration, detect anomalies, identify possible emission sources and analyse the relationships between pollution, weather, traffic and human activity. The SQUARE platform brings together dashboards, maps, alert systems, predictive models and a Decision Engine capable of turning data into operational recommendations. Sense Square also works on environmental Digital Twins, Edge AI systems and TinyML models that run directly on the devices, reducing response times, energy consumption and dependence on connectivity. Its technologies are applied in the urban, industrial, agricultural, tourism and scientific research sectors, with the aim of providing reliable tools for risk prevention, sustainability, decarbonisation and smart land management.
