In the energy storage sector, CapTop manufactures Supercapacitors (SCs) and SC-based systems. SCs complement batteries wherever high power density, an extremely high number of cycles, long operating life and instant response are required. These are the main sectors where SCs are needed, often in hybrid systems alongside batteries: BESS or HESS systems for protecting power grids and for the new AI Data Centres; systems protecting small, medium and large industrial sites and hospitals from micro- and milli-outages (from microseconds up to 5-10 seconds, which cause extensive damage); e-mobility (across rail, road, marine and aviation); logistics; research (energy in particular, e.g. nuclear fusion); amusement parks; and every case where there is a real opportunity to recover kinetic energy during braking or potential energy during descent, such as KERS or cranes. What does our innovation consist of? 1. We are about to build a large-scale industrial SC manufacturing plant, the only one of its kind in Italy; 2. We will produce cells with graphene electrodes based on a patent held by one of our shareholders, using a lactic acid-based electrolyte that is completely safe for people and the environment; 3. We are building our factory in Italy and in Europe now, at the very moment when Asian manufacturers, who hold 80-90% of global production, can no longer even meet all of Asia's domestic demand. SC delivery times in Europe have gone from 2-3 months to 10-12 months.
